Wiperblades.co.uk-backed Team VERTU began its 2025 British Touring Car Championship campaign (BTCC) in fine style with a win and four podiums from three races at Donington Park.
Tom Chilton emerged victorious from the third and final race of the weekend, while Tom Ingram collected a trio of second place finishes in what was a competitive start to the season for the team, which is being sponsored by Wiperblades.co.uk for the first time this year.
The results place Ingram and Chilton second and third in the overall standings after Round 1 of 10.
A third career BTCC win for Chilton as a Exclr8 Motorsport (Team VERTU), the 40-year old was delighted to get his 2025 BTCC campaign off to a race-winning start.
Tom Chilton said: “A race win in the final race, and third in the points is a really pleasing way to go into Brands Hatch and my favourite circuit on the calendar, although we haven’t had it all our own way this weekend.
“However, we fought through and to score the first win for Team VERTU this season and help to secure the team award for the weekend as a whole is mega.”
Though he’d just miss out on the top step, Ingram – who sits just seven points shy of the championship lead – was otherwise satisfied with a rewarding weekend.
Tom Ingram added: “We realistically need to be pushing for the podium each weekend. It’s going to be a very competitive season, but we have started it strongly, which is ultimately what we needed to do.
“Clearly, we were very strong this weekend but we know that there are others on the grid who are going to improve as the season goes on and the impact of the new turbo boost rules really takes effect.
“We’ve made our performance count this weekend to pick up three strong results, and I’m really pleased for Tom to get the win as he deserved it.”
The 2025 BTCC season continues with Round 2 at Brands Hatch on 10-11 May.
